Welcome!

Since making the announcement that we can now accept insurance, we have had several new clients make an appointment. We are proud to serve our community, and are glad you chose Family Ties Counseling to help. If we could have just a few minutes of your time, we would love a chance to introduce ourselves.

Kelli Busbee - I graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1993. My upbringing in "Da Parish" is something I would not change for all of the money in the world. Growing up in a small community, taught me family and community values, that I hope to be passing on to my own children. Everyone knew everyone, and you never had to ask for help. When someone saw that a family needed something, they stepped up without even being asked. Whether you knew the person or not, that never mattered. It was as if we were all one big family. In 1998, I married my husband Dale, who also grew up in a small town right outside of Beaumont, Texas. In 2002 Dale and I moved to Slidell, with our two small children, Matthew and Madeline. Matthew is now 18 and Madeline is now 16. I also have a 24 year old step daughter, Lauren, who still lives in Texas. In 2010, I graduated with my doctoral degree in Education from Southeastern. During that same year, I moved out of teaching and in to an administrator position at Boyet Junior High. I have been working there ever since. In 2013 I decided to go back and finish a degree I started 13 years prior - Marriage and Family Counseling! I graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in July 2015 with a degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. I started Family Ties Counseling in September of 2018. The rest - as they say - is history. My interests lie in family ties (no pun intended). I believe much of what we do in life, stems from our past. It may be our childhood, our young adulthood, or even our family relationships. Because of this, even if I see individuals, we will usually talk about your family. I also enjoy working with couples and families. I truly believe if you want something to work, you will find a way to make it happen. I also believe "This too, shall pass". My clients include anyone from high school age, to 92! I see individuals, couples and families.

Amanda Vigreux - Amanda was born and raised in Slidell, and graduated from Salmen High School in 2007. After graduation, Amanda made the same decision as many of our other local graduates - she was headed to LSU! In 2011 she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Business. Knowing she always wanted to be a counselor, she went on to continue her education at Southeastern University. After completing her internship at Salmen High School, she graduated in 2014 with a Master's of Education in Counseling, and a concentration in School Counseling. Her dreams of helping others in her home town, were finally coming true! 2015 was a big year for Amanda. After dating for nearly 5 years through college, she married her husband, Ryan. That same year, after a year at Northshore High School, she transferred to Boyet Junior High, as the school counselor. As the counselor for 4 years now, Amanda has had an opportunity to show her passion for working with adolescents. She also has two young nieces (2 and 5) that she loves keeping whenever she has some extra time. She truly has an uncanny knack with children of all ages. Amanda's specialty is working with young children, through young adulthood (late 20's).

Family Ties may be new, but our desire to help children and adults in our community, has always been there. Whether you see Kelli or Amanda, I am certain you will receive the help and care you deserve and expect. We have appointments at 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00 - Monday through Thursday. Please call to set up a time and date that works best for you.
